Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun is the new Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of Lakapi Samoa following the Board's decision on 17 December  2024.

Seumanu succeeds Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i, who steps down after nine years at the helm of the national union.

With over 15 years of experience in governance, leadership, and sports management, Seumanu is poised to take Lakapi Samoa to new heights.

His career spans numerous high-profile roles, including C.E.O. of Leadership Samoa, President of the Tama Uli Rugby Club and the Fa’asaleleaga Sub-Union, and Chairman of the Savai’i Vikings Franchise.

Seumanu has also demonstrated his rugby development and event management expertise, notably as Tournament Director for the Marist Samoa International 7s.

Since 2020, he has served as the General Manager of Lakapi Samoa's High Performance Unit, contributing to the growth and success of Samoan rugby.

In a statement from the Chairman of Lakapi Samoa, Tuilaepa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi said Seumanu's appointment was described as a strategic move to build on the foundations laid by his predecessor.

"Seumanu has demonstrated exceptional leadership over many years and has earned the trust of the Board," Tuilaepa stated. "We are confident that his skills, experience, and vision will continue to elevate Lakapi Samoa and steer the organization toward even greater achievements," he said.

Seumanu himself expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the organisation, acknowledging the significant responsibility that comes with the role.

"I am deeply grateful to the President, Chairman, and Board for their trust in me," he said. "I understand the high expectations our people have for Samoan rugby, and I am committed to working with all our stakeholders to drive sustainable growth and success both on and off the field."

Seumanu hails from Salelologa and Safotu in Savai'i, and Taufusi and Tanumalala in Upolu. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of the South Pacific and is married to Talamatavao Vaetoefaga Hinauri Leaupepe-Ngau Chun, with whom he has two children.

As Seumanu steps into his new role, Lakapi Samoa also took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of outgoing CEO, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i.

Faleomavaega’s tenure has been marked by substantial progress in the union’s governance, financial transparency, and stakeholder relations. Under his leadership, Lakapi Samoa strengthened its ties with key partners, including World Rugby, the Samoan government, and the Pacific Players Association.

Tuilaepa praised Faleomavaega for his role in positioning Lakapi Samoa as a strong and influential voice in international rugby.

"Faleomavaega leaves Lakapi Samoa in a much stronger position than when he joined. His leadership has provided a solid foundation on which we will continue to build," said Tuilaepa.

Reflecting on his tenure, Faleomavaega shared his gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

"It has been a privilege to work with so many talented and dedicated people in rugby, both locally and internationally," he said.

"Despite the challenges we faced, our teams continue to excel on the world stage, and I am proud of what we have achieved together."

Faleomavaega also expressed his thanks to the Lakapi Samoa Board, the business community, supporters, and volunteers for their unwavering support.

"I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Union's journey during my time, particularly Chairman Tuilaepa S. Malielegaoi, for his steadfast support and leadership," he added.
