The 58-year-old man accused of shooting two people to death has denied all charges against him and wants to be released on bail.

Pokati Tuu also known as Pokati Faataui entered his plea before the Supreme Court Judge Justice Fepuleai AMeperosa Roma on Monday.

He was represented by lawyer Tanya Toailoa who appeared on behalf of Mauga Precious Chang.

Tuu is facing charges of murder, manslaughter, causing serious bodily injury, causing injury, assault, armed with a dangerous weapon, possession of ammunition, unlicensed firearm and presenting a firearm.

The charges are in connection to the death of a slain police officer, Detective Sergeant Peniamina Perite and a Nofoalii resident.

Tuu of Fasitoo-uta has been in custody since July and filed a bail application.

Justice Roma adjourned the matter to next Monday to allow the prosecution to file a response to the bail application.

Tuu was captured by Police on 24 July after a police hunt and was held in custody.

Police reported the defendant allegedly murdered the Nofoalii man on a Sunday and he shot Sergeant Perite on Monday as he carried out his investigation into the homicide case.
