Litara ready for new role
"If I can do it, you can do it." Miss Samoa Litara Ieremia-Allen stated as she was officially handed over her responsibilities by Onomea Production and Samoa Tourism Authority on Tuesday evening.
Litara is excited and humbled to take on her role. She knows that she has big shoes to fill and walk down the path of her talented predecessor.
"It feels very humbling and very moving. It's a role that I do not take lightly. It's something that I feel well supported by family and Samoa. It is very exciting," she said.
"Growing up, I was very much a tomboy. I admire all the Miss Samoas in the pageant but I was a bit sporty so I never thought slits and glams would be for me.
"But only recently I thought "Why not?" I guess it's a message to any tamaitai that you can do anything. If I can do it, you can do it."
Miss Samoa has already spoken about what she will be looking at promoting during her 12-month reign.
"As a teacher, I'm always moved by problems or issues our youth faces, so I'll be working with programs, NGOs, and agencies that are already engaged with the youth to get through to them."
She is looking forward to the upcoming Miss Pacific Island. She will be representing Samoa in the Solomon Islands. She also acknowledged the support and love she has received from everyone since her pageant journey began.
"Samoa, I am so moved by your love, I've always been a proud tamaitai Samoa. I pray and hope that I have acknowledged and paid tribute to our elders, youth, and ancestors. I am humbled and blessed to serve you as your Miss Samoa."
