Accident causes traffic delay
A vehicular accident involving a Blue Bird lumber truck and a private vehicle at Vaitele caused a delay in traffic on Thursday around 3 pm.
Samoa Observer was at the scene. The truck sustained minor damages compared to the grey Toyota Hilux pickup.
According to witnesses, they do not know which car was at fault as they believed one of the two drivers must have run a red light.
No one was injured. It is believed that the scene was quickly cleared soon after the incident. However, the accident caused a major stoppage to the flow of the traffic on the main road.
The police have asked drivers to adhere to road rules and keep their speed within the required national maximum limit. Meanwhile, police continue to set up random checkpoints.
The checkpoints serve two purposes, it aids them to detect unlicensed drivers and unregistered vehicles as well it is a step in the fight against drugs.
