M.B.O.P.A bring careers day for students
It was a chance for students to decide the career path they would foresee themselves walking down in the future.
A successful bazaar and careers day was hosted by the Marist Brother's Old Pupil's Association as part of their centennial celebrations at Marist Brothers Primary School in Mulivai on Thursday.
Different businesses and government ministries set up their tents and explained to the students what they do and what would be the course of study they require to have a career with them.
There were members from the Samoa Police Prison and Corrections Services, Samoa Commercial Bank, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Bank of the South Pacific, Vodafone Samoa, and many others.
Food stalls were set up by small businesses and other communities.
Students from Saint Joseph's College who were performing at the event spoke of how important the bazaar and careers day was for them.
"It was a successful day for me personally. As a student, it helped me find out the courses I need to take in order to make it in the career that I want to take up," said Mathew Ierome.
"These people also had challenges but they were able to surpass it all. If they were able to do it, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't make it as well.
"There's so much to take away from this. In order to be successful we have to work hard. Not everything comes easy. Whatever path we choose there will always be challenges.
"I am hoping that I would be able to graduate, and reach my dream of being the best version of myself. The old boys of our College who are here today have all made it in life. And it's such an inspiration to see and be around them and hearing their stories of how their years were at St Joseph's. It is definitely something for the books."
The cold and the drizzles could not stop the Marist Brothers Primary and Saint Joseph's College students from performing energy filled cultural dances. The students performed the clap dances and each team had their 'taualuga'.
M.B.O.P.A also hosted the Tausala Online at the Saint Joseph's College Alafua Hall on Thursday.
