An Electric Power Cooperation linesman is believed to have been rushed to the hospital after being electrocuted during work on a power pole at Motootua on Tuesday evening.

According to an eyewitness who was there during the incident, she saw the linesmen working on the pole.

She said all of a sudden, there were noises coming from the road. She said when she went out to see she saw the linesman hanging from the pole.

She also claimed that EPC workers came around noon to change something on the pole. She mentioned that the power was off in their area from midday until later in the evening. She said there were more than 10 people who came in four cars for the maintenance work.

The linesman was rushed to the hospital after his colleagues successfully brought him down from the pole with the use of ladders, and he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital, Motootua.

Footage of the linesman dangling from the pole while in his harness is making the rounds of social media.

This newspaper tried to contact the E.P.C Chief Executive Officer, Faumui Iese Toimoana but was unsuccessful. There was also no formal notification of the incident from the E.P.C.
