Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P.) secretary Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi denied social media claims that he was conspiring to murder Samuelu Sua.

Sua's claims that he saw the member of parliament drive a vehicle that hit a teenager in 2021 causing his death has been considered a conspiracy with no evidence to back it up. The police have charged him and five others and their trial was due to start in August.

He said in a press conference that he was also concerned about the postponement of the trial of five people charged with conspiracy-related offences as this allowed time to those allegedly spreading rumours about him.

"You don't understand what we are going through. You have seen, and you've heard about the allegations on social media made by FAST supporters saying that I and my other fellow mates are planning to murder Samuelu," he said.

"So now they have started this (rumour) if anything happens to Samuelu, my family and I will be blamed again. I saw yesterday they were thanking God because the case has been adjourned. They should have been praying for this case to continue so that we can find the truth and put it to rest.".

"What about my rights? The rights of the people who are affected by this case?

"The 80 witnesses, the Minister of Police, the Ministry of Police, and everyone affected and getting blamed. People are still calling me a murderer to this day."

"I was hoping that the decision made by the judge yesterday would come with an order to stop online harassment until the case was done.

Leala hopes that a trial date will be given for this year and hopes for a speedy trial. He said the longer the case dragged on, the impact on his family remained.

"The purpose of today Samoa, you should believe and trust that Lealailepule wants this case to push through to find the truth," he said.

The Supreme Court granted an appeal sought by five defendants to defer their trial to multiple charges alleging fabrication of evidence with the hearing likely to take place next year.

The appellants in the matter are Samuelu Sua also known by several names, Sivai Kepi Mamea, Lisamarie Schmidt, Member of Parliament for Salega No.1 Fepuleai Faimata Sua and Li’o Faataumalama Auava.

The accused are charged with offences which include misleading police, fabricating evidence, and conspiracy to defeat the course of justice amongst others.
