Local businesses received the opportunity to get free cybersecurity training as Samoa prepares for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October.

WebSafe Samoa in partnership with CERTNZ and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT),  hosted the Business Guard training to equip local businesses with essential cybersecurity skills.

The two-day training was free, comprehensive and non-technical going beyond technical jargon to equip businesses with practical cybersecurity skills applicable to everyday business operations.

Managing Director for Websafe Samoa, Malaeulu Jobenz Manoa said the training is crucial in strengthening the country’s cybersecurity defence.

He said the program covers a range of topics from protecting sensitive data to safeguarding against cyberattacks.

One of the participants and hotel operator testified of how useful the training has been.

"The Business Guard program has been invaluable for Le Alaimoana Hotel," said Director at Le Alaimoana Hotel, Toleafoa Mara Hunter.

“The training provided us with the knowledge and tools to strengthen our cybersecurity defense, protecting our guests' information and our business reputation."

The free training provides opportunity for businesses of all sizes in today's digital landscape to strengthen their cybersecurity posture and safeguard their future success.
