Miss Global Samoa 2024 steps down

Recently crowned Miss Global Samoa 2024 Rosevellaryn Odile Brown Fane announced her resignation from the pageant a month after her coronation. 

The decision was revealed through a heartfelt social media post on Wednesday afternoon, where she cited work commitments and unforeseen circumstances as reasons for her withdrawal.

"I would like to share with you all that I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Miss Global Samoa due to work commitments and unforeseen circumstances," Rosevellaryn expressed in her announcement. 

"This was not an easy decision, but sometimes life takes unexpected turns. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience I’ve had during this short journey and I would like to extend my sincere wishes to the new Miss Global Samoa. With love and gratitude, Ella."

Following her announcement, Rana Bose, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Samoa, responded to inquiries from this newspaper, acknowledging Rosevellaryn's brief yet impactful tenure. 

"She has been a cherished representative of the Miss Global Samoa pageant and has admirably fulfilled her duties during her short tenure," stated Mr. Bose. 

He emphasised that Rosevellaryn's decision was deeply personal and expressed gratitude for the support and opportunities she had during her time as Miss Global Samoa.

Vodafone Samoa, a key sponsor of the event expressed appreciation for Rosevellaryn's dedication and courage in making this decision. "We respect her decision and offer our support as she navigates this transition."

According to the contest rules, Nicolina Ah Kuoi, the first runner-up can now fulfill the role. 

Vodafone Samoa has already reached out to Nicolina. If she agrees, Nicolina will undergo world-class training in the Philippines from September 25-30.

The official crowning of the new Miss Global Samoa 2024 will take place at a press conference hosted at Vodafone headquarters later this month. 

Reflecting on Rosevellaryn's contributions, Vodafone Samoa thanked her for her efforts and wished her success in her future endeavors.

Rosevellaryn, crowned on June 3, 2024, had previously competed in the Miss Samoa Pageant in 2022. 

A 25-year-old entrepreneur with roots in Vaoala, Lotofaga, and Lalovaea villages, has ties to Melbourne, Australia.
