Sagauga Leilani Miriama Galuvao has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer for the Land Transport Authority almost three months after the post became vacant.

This appointment means more women are being appointed to lead government institutions and departments and comes at a time when the nation gears up to mark International Women's Day on Friday.

The Cabinet after deliberations on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment.

Her older brother Tuiletufuga Leasi John Galuvao was a former CEO for the LTA who held the post for more than a decade.

Sagauga is a graduate of the University of Auckland, NZ with a Bachelor of Science and Computer and according to the selection panel, she was the most experienced candidate.

She has been a public servant for more than 10 years and has been with the LTA for the last eight as the Assistant CEO of the Regulatory Division.

Galuvao’s predecessor Taatialeoitiiti Agnes Tutuvanu-Schwalger resigned in October last year.
