Just another day for Taua brothers

Everything about life in the rural village puts a big grin on the faces of Umi and Lima Taua of Ti'avea. The two brothers perched on their horse 'Joe' are a reminder that there is life outside of the urban jungle.
The simplicity of life in the village as well as the relaxing atmosphere is why they enjoy life in the rural area.
The pair of boys, aged 10 and seven, were spotted riding their horse to the nearby store to purchase sugar and coffee for their family in Ti'avea.
For them, owning a car is unnecessary since they can easily travel from one end of the village to the other using their horse.
They told this newspaper that it was their father who taught them how to ride a horse and they delight in making daily trips to the store on horseback.
"It's something people in the urban area don't do," Umi said with a giggle.
"You don't see anyone on horseback going to the store to buy groceries for their family."
They also said that it serves as their primary means of transportation when their parents send them out to complete tasks or fetch items from another family on the opposite side of the village.
"We are used to it and we love it. We are getting good at it and we prefer getting around on horseback rather than walking."
For them, the farm life is not hard. It is something they have been doing since birth, so every other chore is just something that they would do every day.
For now, they are looking forward to the opening of the school next week and even suggested taking their horse to school if they were allowed to do so.
