Ngaire Tusi Silaulelei, a 30-year-old mother of seven has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting Monday morning in Tacoma, Washington, the United States of America.

A Samoan family in the USA is grieving the loss of their family member whose body was discovered under the picnic shelter at Oakland Madrona Park.

According to the Tacoma Police Department, the deadly incident occurred at approximately 8:35 AM.

Family members of the victim tell us her name is Ngaire Tusi, a mother of seven kids who is well-known in the community.

"As detectives and crime scene technicians processed the scene of this morning's death investigation, they confirmed that it was indeed a homicide. Consequently, this incident is now being treated as such," said Tacoma PD  Officer Shelbie Boyd in a news release.

Family members have said that the woman was beaten and shot. According to media reports, neighbours heard gunshots overnight but that is not uncommon.

Her sister sent this tonight:  Ngaire A’asa Tusi was a Mother of 7 beautiful healthy babies named Eternity, Faʻatasiga, Maevalei, Togamau, Sale, Ace, So’onafai (4 girls, 3 boys) A sister to siblings Natasha A’asa, Diva A’asa, Jase A’asa:(deceased) and Iese A’asa and a daughter to parents Tailele Fafagu A’asa and Maeva Sheppard A’asa.

Her family told media in the USA that Ngaire Tusi was loved, respected, and well-known in the community.

"Her murder was senseless and uncalled for. Our hearts are shattered and will never be mended the same. We are having difficulty accepting the truth and the fact that we will never see her precious face again and just to be in her lively presence will forever kill us internally," said her siblings.

"Our Dad is terminally ill with stage four stomach cancer and is taking the news extremely hard. Our Mom too is ill. We are forever broken. Our sister enjoyed making memories and vlogging those memories via photos and videos and she was known for it.

"The thought of her gone is very surreal. She was too trusting of others and saw the good in people and always overlooked people's hidden agendas which we believe is what led to her demise. She will be forever missed and forever mourned."

Meanwhile, family members have started a GoFundMe page to help the woman's page.

"Many of you have asked how you can help the family of Ngaire  Tusi who was murdered in Tacoma on Monday. No arrest has been made. She leaves behind a husband and seven young children. A fund has been started to help pay for her funeral and to support the kids and her parents who are both very ill," her family posted on social media.
