The descendants of Manuo Taulima Palu family bestowed the chiefly title Manuo to four of its heirs in the village of Lufilufi on Thursday during a lavish and spectacular ceremony.

The newly appointed matai welcomed the honour entrusted to them by their family and are eager to serve the village and support family development.

Pastors from several denominations in the village blessed the titleholders at their family home in Lufilufi.

The new matai title holders are Manuo Emo, Manuo Siui, Manuo Taliga and Manuo Galoma Luteru of the Manuo Taulima Palu family.

High Chief, Lukuimagamau Laufetalaiga, said that the ceremony had taken a while to plan but the family is pleased that it was a success.

“The heirs of Manuo Fetuana'i, Litala, and Tauai are our new titleholders,” he said.

Some of the new Manuo title holders traveled from abroad to ensure they were present during the ceremony where their matai was conferred.

"We give thanks to God who made everything possible. The unifying theme throughout these titles is working together to provide for our families in any way we can.”

The matai pointed out he has also advised the new title holders to utilise their matai in a way that is in the best interest of the family instead of using their matai to control and suppress others.

According to Luku, the Manuo title is one of the high-ranking chiefly titles in the village of Lufilufi.
