Fans show up for Toa Samoa ahead of Pacific Champs
Hundreds of Toa Samoa fans and supporters congregated at the Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia for a meet and greet with the players ahead of their game against the Australian Kangaroos later on this week.
The Toa Samoa fans were joined by supporters of the Mate Ma'a Tonga Rugby League team whose players also graced the Kayo Stadium with their presence.
The stadium was packed with supporters and fans who were seen dressed in both red and blue to show their support for the two national teams.
Hundreds of Samoan national flags were seen waving in the air as the Toa Samoa players made their appearance.
The fans had the opportunity to have their photos taken with their favourite Toa Samoa players and also got their autographs.
It was also an opportunity for the fans and supporters to wish both teams best of luck ahead of their preparations for this week's game.
The highly anticipated match is expected as a Rugby League World Cup rematch between Toa Samoa and the Australia Kangaroos.
This will be the first Toa Samoa game under the leadership of its new Head Coach, Ben Gardiner.
Gardiner named his team of 25 players last week which included six players who played for Toa Samoa in the historic R.L.W.C. last year.
Toa Samoa made it all the way to the final against the Kangaroos.
The Toa Samoa will go head to head with the Australian Kangaroos for the 2023 Pacific Championships on Friday this week.
The organisers also put together cultural performances from both the Samoan and Tongan communities in Queensland, Australia as well as performances from Samoan artists in Australia.
The 2023 Pacific Rugby League Championships is the second edition of the Pacific Rugby League Championship and the first under its current name (having previously been called the Oceania Cup in 2019). The championship includes a collection of international rugby league tournaments to be played from October to November 2023 between nations located in the Pacific region.
The competition will be played in three groupings: the Pacific Cup for higher ranking men's teams, the Pacific Bowl for lower ranking men's teams, and a section of women's matches played throughout.
Toa Samoa will face Australia and New Zealand while the Fetu Samoa face Fiji.
