Samoa designers rock Utah show
Samoa’s local fashion designers participated in the inaugural Utah Pacific Fashion Show held over the weekend in Salt Lake City in the U.S. to promote and market Samoan and Pacific brands.
LIFE-Con Pacific director and creator, Vaagi Kevin Lucky said this is only the beginning of greater things to come and is part of their vision to promote local fashion brands.
“This is LIFE-Con’s vision which is promoting Samoan brands and this is an example. Four Samoan fashion brands had the honour of being featured in the first Utah Pacific Fashion show,” said Vaagi.
The four brands showcased in Utah were Cece’s House of Fashion, Nelly Samoa, Rimani Samoa, and Tahiano.
“Malo lava to the incredible designers and the brains behind the brands. There’s also a Fiji Fashion event in October which LIFE-Con has again been invited to. All these brands have been part of LIFE-Con since season 1 and hence their selection to represent Samoa in this Utah-based event,” he said.
The best from Oceania took to the runway with 15 designers from around the Pacific and America selected to showcase their designs. It featured emerging and established designers from Utah, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand to name a few.
Vaagi said this is part of the LIFe-Con’s purpose and is set up to focus strongly on empowering artists and small businesses to strengthen their online presence and fully utilise social media platforms to effectively market local brands.
They are dedicated to providing a platform for local talents and showcasing to the world the amazing and unique creations Samoa has to offer.
There are only a few more weeks until Samoa's LIFE-Con fashion show event with participants ranging from fashion designers, visual artists, hair stylists and makeup artists.
They encourage aspiring artists and designers to participate with the goal of one day having their very own creative piece on the world stage representing Samoa and her creative arts industry.
