Bank South Pacific (B.S.P.) Samoa has given e-learning at the Solosolo Primary School a major boost with the donation of computing equipment valued at over SAT$35,000.

Representatives from B.S.P. Samoa handed over computing equipment valued at SAT$35,315 to the primary school last Wednesday according to a media release issued by the bank's management on Thursday. The equipment comprises 15 computers, each equipped with anti-virus programs, with eight uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, complimented with a six-month 200 GB free data from Vodafone to enable seamless connectivity and online learning opportunities.

B.S.P. Samoa Director and General Manager (Offshore Branches), Taituuga Maryann Lameko-Vaai as well as the BSP Samoa Country Manager Tunumafono Jennifer Fruean, and bank management joined high chiefs of Solosolo and school representatives and the local community to witness the handover ceremony.

The bank's Country Manager Tunumafono Jennifer Fruean, when addressing the school, highlighted the bank's continued partnerships and community landmarks across the region.

“Since 2016, the B.S.P. Samoa has delivered close to 10 major community projects to schools, hospitals, churches and community groups in Samoa," said Ms. Fruean. "These projects include delivering water tanks, installation of solar lights for schools, the building of a kitchen and dining area for S.V.S.G. [Samoa Victim Support Group] and other schemes.

“B.S.P. takes immense pride in initiating these community projects that benefit communities, especially to schools for the young generation. The completion of this community project signifies another significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between B.S.P. and the community.

"It serves as a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in fostering positive change and driving educational advancement."

Solosolo Primary School Principal, Amituanai Aukusitino Leota thanked B.S.P. Samoa for the donation of the computing equipment.

“The commencement of this initiative has inspired the school to convert its library into a computer room and refurbish its school building. This will boost students' learning experience by providing a convenient study environment with the tools and skills necessary to thrive in the digital age. Moreover, encourage teachers to deliver lessons with ease.”

Taituuga, who was also present at the occasion, officiated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally hand over the project to the primary school.
