SVSG meets with village representatives
Samoa Victim Support Group held its first executive meeting to discuss in detail their plans for this year as well as an overview of their work in the previous year.
On Tuesday last week, the newly elected executive committee for Upolu village representatives gathered at Princess Hotel at Motootua for their first ever meeting this year under assistant chairman Alesana Seuinuiutasi who was present on behalf of the chairman Tupuola Miasa who was away due to illness.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the plans of the work of the village leaders in partnership SVSG in becoming active respondents to cases of violence reported within their own communities, enabling them to serve the country through supporting those who are being victimised in various ways and eliminate violence of any kind.
The gathering came about after the election of the new chairman, assistant chairman, secretary and treasurer voted in by the village representatives towards the end of 2022.
The other 16 members of the executive committee are active village leaders selected by the Samoa Victim Support Group from the 10 districts in Upolu.
The richness of the discussions and the exchange of thoughts reflected the commitment of each participant of the meeting. New programs and major activities have been put in place to achieve their common goal of saving lives.
Another meeting is scheduled in three months and will look at the progress and improvements of projects done within this period.
