Police make donation, perform for elderly
Before they start their festive season operations, the Samoa Police Service made time to take Christmas cheer and joy to the residents of the Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged.
On Wednesday afternoon, the police choir and brass band gave the elders at Mapuifagalele a performance to remember.
The performance was also witnessed by the Police Commissioner Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo, Deputy Police Commissioners, the executive and the staff of the home as well as the police service.
The men and women sang Christmas carols and dances that brought tears of joy and laughter to the elderly fathers and mothers who are residents.
A monetary donation of $2,000 tala was also given to the sisters to assist in the caring of the residents as well as vegetables and other crops.
According to the Police Commissioner, this is an ongoing activity for the ministry of police to cheer the residents at Mapuifagalele.
Auapa'au said because the residents cannot go to their families to celebrate Christmas, they have been going every year to Vailele to sing and perform Christmas songs and dances for the residents as a way to lift their spirits.
Nevertheless, Auapa'au also told the Catholic nuns that the Ministry will continue to send inmates to clean the land at Vailele and assist them with maintaining the land and making sure its clean.
In return the residents at Mapuifagalele sang "Ua fa'afetai" to express their gratitude to the Ministry for their ongoing support.
