Vodafone Samoa has launched an eSIM in a milestone for the company and hopes to capitalise on international travellers coming into or flying out of Samoa.

The company hopes that its new product will prove to be a hit for both inward and outward international travellers who have single SIM mobile phone handsets.

Vodafone Samoa Acting CEO Rana Bose said in a press release issued by the company that they are committed to bringing new technologies to Samoa and the introduction of the eSIM is a step in that direction.

“Telecoms customers’ expectations are changing — they are looking for latest and convenient solutions. Vodafone is committed to bringing new technologies to Samoa and the introduction of eSIM is a step towards that," said Mr. Bose.

"Recently Vodafone team launched e-commerce solution, developed by our inhouse technical team that allows purchase of mobile phones from overseas, for families in Samoa.

"We will continue to bring new technologies to meet the ever changing customer expectation as per rest of the world."

International travelers coming to Samoa can retain their international SIM while adding a Vodafone Samoa SIM as eSIM in their single SIM handset at the airport store on arrival.

For travelers from Samoa they can convert Vodafone Samoa SIM to eSIM while travelling abroad and get a local physical SIM at international location. The eSIM also eliminates the need for a physical SIM card and has environmental benefits in terms of e-waste.

Customers can get a Vodafone eSIM at any of the Vodafone Samoa retail outlets at Maluafou, Matafele, Fugalei, Eveni, Vaitele and Salelologa in Savai'i.

The First eSIM is free of charge, however, for additional eSIM for the same handset attracts a charge of $25. Customers are encouraged to call 67121 or visit any Vodafone store to check if their handset can support the eSIM.
