How patriotic is Digicel?
Dear Editor,
Over the last two days, I sat down through Digicel’s Sky Pacific here in Samoa for all Pacific nations playing rugby league. All except Samoa, the fourth-ranked team in the world who were up against the third-ranked team England and to my surprise and little disgust Digicel was not covering this game live.
Surely the CEO and other senior members were aware for many months that this tour of their national side was going ahead but nobody within Digicel did not do enough to pick up a link to provide to their loyal customers this service.
I would only presume any person with Sky TV in Samoa would simply expect a game of this magnitude would be covered.
I called Digicel and the poor young lady on the phone could just keep saying sorry and saying there were many frustrated customers while the suits at Digicel went about their Sunday evening.
The young lady said she fully understood my frustration and agreed with what I was saying.
I got up at 4 am to just see if it was a bad dream but when I turned on the TV, Channels 1-4 on Digicel all European soccer, no 1 Samoan player to be found, Channel 11 ESPN, contracted channel, other sports channel used on occasions channel 22, and European rugby.
As for the other channels that is a different story with nothing but repeats for months on end on the channel from 21 to 34
Very poor service all around by Digicel and as I said to the lady on the phone I will never pay another $89 tala to this company after she apologised and yet again she agreed.
My reply was it's not your job to keep apologising for other people's muck ups. I said get the suits in the head office to apologise
Digicel Sky after this episode of your lack of loyalty to your national rugby league team you will never receive another cent out of me.
Feel free to come pick up your property anytime you like.
