New fun place in town

Mini golf is an awesome idea and we have just that in town now. Woop woop! We sometimes forget that it’s not just children that need fun, it’s also the adults.

Last Saturday, my four year old had a great time at the opening of the Talofa Mini Golf facility located at Moamoa, while I was stuck at home with a swollen leg. Blooming bee stings. If you are looking for a fantastic family activity to do during the week or weekend that everyone can enjoy, you don’t have to go far. They open from 9am until 9pm and can be enjoyed by everyone.

It is just before the bridge on your right coming from town. Housed under an open, big warehouse so the weather is not a problem. I had to go and see it for myself and I was impressed by the set up. There is even a miniature town clock on the course, such a cool idea. I guess Christmas came early for many of us, who’ve been looking for a great time out with family that’s affordable, hassle free and easy.

You know, personally, I am not a fan of golf. I never understood the fascination with someone with a stick, chasing a ball and trying to put it into an even smaller hole in the ground. However, my child and the doctor enjoy games, athletic and are good at it. It’s a losing battle in our household and even more so with crazy golf, putt putt, other names for the mini version.

Now, after seeing the place and being in the atmosphere, I have a different view about mini golf. For one, it is safe for all ages. If my four year old can go and enjoy it, anyone can. It is colourful and housed under one roof so, we won’t have to worry about a golf fanatic hitting anyone on the head with a speeding golf ball. We won’t have to worry about the elements or the kids walking for miles and miles. No sir, no need for golf carts or caddies. You can even enjoy a cold drink and a snack while watching your children swing their little hearts out at Talofa Mini Golf.

You can take your own putters to practise your game. Future plans by the owner include changing courses and other fun things to keep it interesting and I look forward to more miniature creations for this place. Pretty cool.

Moamoa is little bit out of town which makes it less busy and more relaxing, another bonus. There is also ample parking and you can book your event there. One of the best things for me is their alcohol free policy. It makes sense with minors around so everyone should have a good time and enjoy themselves without the loud drunken behaviour. Enjoy responsibly!

A little bit of research into mini golf proved that there are some surprisingly good benefits associated with it:

For example, it gets your heart rate up and will give you a good cardiovascular workout. Burning off all that extra energy is good for the body and everyone will benefit from that. Walking around the course, swinging the club, chasing a ball and chasing your kid around the course delivers all of that. Swinging works with large muscle groups while bending with different movements works not only your legs but your whole body. It is a win win.
