The road marking activities went overnight as the contractors were rushing to finish the job before the arrival of the dignitaries from overseas. Even the police stepped in to help with traffic flow. The keyword here is regular maintenance. If that happens, there will be no rush to paint things anew because of celebrations planned for this weekend.

BUDGET

The budget announcement is quite hard to process. The help for newborns and pension increase were announced and will be passed because of the majority in the house. What is perplexing is that the assistance starts from next year?

FUNDS

The education minister said money will be given to special schools as the cabinet had approved his request, then the finance minister announced the same assistance in the budget. How many of the three will have to shut their doors again before the funds are provided?

BUS

The bus operators are unhappy. Some say they expected a rise in fares, while others expected fuel subsidies. Neither has happened. Many of the operators have increased fares without approval. This week will end soon and new fuel prices will come in; things will only get costlier.

MINDFUL

Parents, if you are attending the Independence Day celebrations with your children, please be mindful and keep an eye on them. Do not let them out of your sight. There were children reported missing last year.
