Between the Lines

HIT AND RUN

It was a hit-and-run of another variety. A delivery truck was involved in an accident along Vailoa; however, the other vehicle did not stick around for the boys in blue to arrive. One can only guess from a number of reasons why the vehicle did not stop.

SCHOOLS

A school told parents that it had been informed by its line ministry that the government was going to cut down the number of school days so parents could save on fuel. For the third consecutive year, schools are being affected. And leaders act surprised when told of the faltering literacy and numeracy rates.

HOURS

Elected officials will not face a pay cut to save money; instead, some government ministries will be asked to cut down on the hours they operate. Hopefully, this does not mean pay cuts for the civil servants.

REDUCED

A group of passengers who disembarked from the Savaii ferry were left waiting for a bus for hours. They were told that buses had reduced the frequency of their trips because of fuel prices. The reduced trips are leading to overcrowded buses.

CONCERT

There was some serious dancing and performances at the gospel youth concert in town. It was entertaining and had many youths engaged. It also kept many away from their devices. Some still found the event as a means to stick their gadgets.
