Between the Lines
PERKS OF POWER
A top bureaucrat isn't satisfied with one taxpayer-funded vehicle, so why not make it three? After all, efficiency is key: one for official duties, one for the partner and a third one for school runs.
EDUCATION
It is good to see the government allowing employees to use publicly funded vehicles to drop off and pick up children from school. After all, education is important.
GO ON
There is one golden rule, the Bingo must go on. Many operators have invested in generators to make sure the gambling goes on. Even when it is dark everywhere, people will leave children behind at home.
FUNDRAISE
In the coming weeks, many churches would be reaching out to the flock to raise funds for expensive generators. If this happens, can the church lend the generator during the week to the nearest school?
FIREWOOD
Firewood demand is about to increase and many families are now turning to the good old woodfire stoves to prepare meals as electricity-powered stoves and ovens are no longer reliable.
FROZEN
A spot check is needed at all shops as not everyone has generators. Surely, frozen goods like meat have been compromised by the outages. It is about the health of the people.
