A first time visitor has high expectations for his visit to Samoa.

Australian Iain Bain but currently residing in Washington, D.C. in the United States for work is in Samoa for a two-week break.

“I’m here with my wife, she’s here for work, and I’m tagging along to do a bit of relaxing,” he told Samoa Observer.

“Doing a bit of work remotely but enjoying it here, you know it’s better to do it by the pool than back in the office at home,” he added.

The 30-year-old tourist hopes to soak up as much warm weather as possible before returning to the U.S.A.

“I live in the US in Washington DC and its snowing and very cold back there right now so it’s nice to get a bit of a break from that.

“Get some warm weather, bit of relaxing and I get to wear some shorts and t-shirt again, and do some scuba diving, looking forward to get a bit of swimming and getting into the water,” he said with a smile.

“The transition from the cold to the warm has been okay, bit of humidity and everything just seemed a lot more relaxed here which I am looking forward to do a lot more of,” he added.

He said upon arrival he has been consuming a lot of seafood, saying his favourite is the “coconut fish, a snapper maybe, sea bugs and prawns are pretty good too”.

The only other Polynesian Pacific Island nation he has visited is the Cook Islands and he says there are so many similarities between Samoa and the Cook Islands.

Iain also told of his plans to hire a car in the weekend to visit the To Sua Ocean Trench and Lalomanu Beach.
