The Chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union says the Manu Samoa Sevens – despite their recent results – is making some improvements.

But the Chairman, who is also the Prime Minister, says they need to use their brains.

 “The truth is, there have been big improvements from our team,” Tuilaepa said.

“The only thing that’s left for them is that they need to use their brains. 

“We need to polish their performance.”

Tuilaepa said the team had many near misses during the Vancouver Sevens.

There were a couple of games where they lost by one try, including a very tough game against Fiji.

But it was the game against Wales that got Tuilaepa’s attention.

Samoa could have won if the player had used his brain.

 “It was just him and the ball, but his foot was out,” he said.

“Only a person with no brain can do such thing. 

“Someone who forgets his brain is probably just wandering around the place. 

“But they need to focus and I am sure they are almost smart enough to play;  they are almost there.” 

Samoa remains 13th on the rankings heading to Hong Kong where they are in pool A with England, Australia and Korea.
