Are you serious? Really?

Dear Editor

I have watched and listened with interest the developments of our national airline, and in most cases have had to bite my tongue and see what comes.

But when this junk logo came out today I just can’t hold back now.

Firstly, that new Samoa Airways logo looks ugly like a cartoon and cheap.

Is this for an airline or the taro chips packet? Is this the kind of image we want of our airline on a global stage?

The description is pathetic, the coconut tree is not unique to Samoa, all the other pacific islands have it. And it’s been done before with Polynesian airlines - let’s start a fresh and new look.

Why are we not celebrating what’s unique to Samoa? So much to choose from! The teuila; the tuiga, the tatau etc why didn’t you get any Samoan artists to come up with decent design?

So many talented and good artists out there. Actually who did design the one you launched?

Was it one of the employee’s kids? If so then nice try BUT not a brand or logo that will put Samoa on global level.

The description sounds desperate and clueless too?

Seriously people where is your marketing division????

Please Prime Minister or anyone who has the power to - kiai this logo and get a decent one! This is not just for the plane but uniforms and advertisements. Save that logo for the apa pinati or taro chip packets. I hope the airline didn’t spend any money on that rubbish logo, my 5 year old could’ve done it for free.

This logo really is pathetic and boring and when I had suspicions about management before, now this really proves the fact that I don’t think they know what they doing, this step back into international space is above their heads.

This is something been bothering me since the start of these return to international services.

Hope the government advertises all the management roles and gets a decent C.E.O - because surely if this C.E.O and management approved this pathetic logo then they got rocks in their heads and can’t even make simple business decisions, how hard is it to come up with something iconic and beautiful for our beautiful Samoa? So embarrassing.

Please someone overturn this decision.
