Public wary of Tuilaepa CJ's resignation call
Members of the public have spoken out on a call by the former Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi, for the Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese, to resign.

I don't agree with what Tuilaepa wants, the Chief Justice is just doing his job. I don't think he is doing the right thing here. The C.J. along with the Judiciary is making the calls based on the constitution, and we have to let them do their work, we must not interfere with their work. Satiu was elected to be Samoa's C.J. for a reason so we must respect that. He shouldn't resign if he isn't doing anything wrong. Satiu and the Judiciary are doing a fantastic job.

He shouldn't have said that, I mean there is no point in asking for the Chief Justice's resignation if he is doing his job right. They are making their choices based on what they are experts at. Let the justice system work its course. They know what they are doing and they understand what needs to be done. I don't support Tuilaepa asking for the CJ's resignation.

I do not agree with Tuilaepa. The CJ knows his role and he is going to live by it. The decision has already been made so it's time for him to accept it. We shouldn't interfere with our Judiciary's decisions and work because we all have our own vision and interpretation of things. However, this is where all Samoans should unite and pray that our country will get back its peace and prosperity. Samoa is founded on God so why not ask him to help us see all this through. Things that are happening are very important so that they can think again about things that they should have done to prevent all this crisis.

I know for me I don't agree with what Tuilaepa wants, if we put it to being a democratic country there is already a split of what it should be. With him wanting the C.J. to resign, I still recall him saying that he is waiting for the Holy Spirit to elect a C.J., and now that the C.J. has been elected, and he wants him to resign only because he feels that the C.J. is not doing his job well. So to me, my mind doesn't accept this matter of the C.J. resigning.

In my opinion, I thought that when the decision came out, I thought it was the end of it. But I know it's probably because Tuilaepa is still hurt and that's why he is acting this way, or maybe there is no one who can advise him. Perhaps if there was someone, I know he is hurting but cannot vent but in fairness, he should have patience. He should accept defeat, and give the chance to Fiame to work. He shouldn't look down, but what we (Samoa) should do is pray hard. Who are those people? They are Samoans, it's not like the red corner is different from the blue corner, because this is what I'm seeing, there is hatred among the people. My only plea to Tuilaepa is to take a rest; you are old, spend your quality time with your family, kids and grandchildren but pray for FAST, they are also humans. It's really bad that overseas country sees us going like this and you should know that you shouldn't let the sunset while you are still mad. He said that he strongly supports the C.J. and the judiciary but now. He should know that he chose these people, and we've been asking when our C.J. will be elected, and he said he was waiting for the spirits whisper but now he is refusing the spirits whisper? Simativa is now working hard at the Judiciary and he wants him to resign; that's the wrong thing to do.
