Public excited about $60 million dividend payout
Fuatia Ah Chong, 52, Vaimoso
“It is a great idea [to pay out the $60 million dividend] for people of our community, especially for people whose families are not wealthy. Also it will be a big help for us as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our business as well as daily lives of the people in Samoa."
Fou Silver, 42, Nuufou
“I would say the $60 million in dividend that the S.N.P.F Board declared is a big help to people of our country, especially when we are living during the impact of COVID-19. It will also help to lighten the heavy burden that some people are going through financially in order to pay children’s school fees, family fa'alavelave and others."
Pu’a Laufiso, 47, Falelauniu Tai
“The SNPF Board and management and the payment of the $60 million dividend is a great idea as people of our country will be blessed. It would be better that each individual who have SNPF entitlements receive the same amount of cash. But it all depends on the amount of money a person has in his or her account. For example, if the Board gives out $100 to a person – that should apply for everyone else. It will be a great help for families in Samoa as some businesses are slow due to the impact of the pandemic.”
Tino Tusi, 30, Faleasiu
“The $60 million dividend declaration by the SNPF will be of great help to our people but it would be better if everyone who have SNPF accounts will receive it. But I am full of gratitude that we who are entitled to the cash payouts will be blessed financially. It will help our families and pay for other daily uses.”
Apolosio Alalatoa, 22, Moamoa
“The $60 million tala that will be divided among people is such a great help from the SNPF. As the pandemic is slowing down businesses in Samoa, this are the kinds of help our people need. It is a blessing for each and everyone who are entitled to it and it will be a help for them and their families. “
Teleiai Aana Gogosina, 49, Samatau
"I am looking ahead of time if this $60 million dividend will be divided now then what about the next generation. Isn't the purpose of an SNPF account is for future preferences? If the other $30 million can be cashed it can be used within a day by people but what about children of our children? But on the other hand we are blessed to receive money being cashed out to provide for our daily needs as the pandemic effects us all. Thank you to the caretaker Government and SNPF for great blessings for people of our nation."
