The news that Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has donated SAT$230.000 from Samoa for the heavyweight boxing title fight featuring Lupesoliai Joseph Parker in Auckland next month, has hit the headlines. In return, Samoa will be promoted as a tourist destination and as an investment opportunity to millions of viewers. Natasha Schmidt asked the people what they thought about the donation and this is what they said:

Lui Anae, Leauvaa

I think that this is not only good for Joseph Parker, but for Samoa as well because his success is a blessing for the whole country. The donation is a step forward for the country, because it is an opportunity for Samoa to become noticed as a country and as a tourist spot as well.I think this is focusing on our future, the building of our families and the country and the blessing from God by giving this money to Joseph Parker.

Sanete Seikliaki, Puipa’a

I really support the decision because Joseph Parker is a son of Samoa, it is really important that he gets all the money, so he will be able to support Samoa as well.

Tanaleaid Malouamaua Lusiano, Faleasiu

He is a Samoan boy! The amount of money from the prime minister is enough.

Namia Faleata, Alamagoto

I think it is a very nice offer from Samoa. Therefore I agree with the donation.
