Paila Tiatia Tuiala, 62, Fagaloa

"To me, I know everyone had a different feeling on the earthquake. I know it was long but still I was trying to figure out any causes of the earthquake on Monday night and the hardest part was that it was night time. We can't see anything at night time where the sea is, only if we use a flashlight or something like that, then we can finally see the ocean. At night I was watching to see if there were changes, I know that for as long as I was watching, there were no changes to the sea level. Also there was nothing to worry the public as the weather was fine. This is a great God we serve for our country and our country to God. Thank you to the heavenly father above for always keeping us safe."

Mulivai Paitusi, 38, Lefaga

"It reminded me of the earthquake that happened in 2009 which caused a tsunami and many people lost their lives. So it's best to hide far away from the coastal area then staying near the coast and shoreline, as when another earthquake happens there will be in a big rush. I was shocked, I felt this earthquake around 8:51pm it was strong and it wasn't long."

Faatauuua Fiso, 35, Vaitoomuli Palauli

"The earthquake happened when I was in Apia but I'm from Savai'i. I was worried for my family in Savai'i but I'm in Apia. I called and told my family in Savai'i to evacuate to my house at Vaitoomuli but families near the coastal areas to prepare to go to higher ground. Also the weather now, I'm a fisherman I know when the tides are high and low also the rough sea. For families near the coastal areas to move to higher grounds to be safe for our family. I was so worried about my mom and dad because they are old because I have to use a car to move them to higher grounds for their safety."

Ivona Lafaele, 19, Falefa

"To me that time I was not scared or afraid of something. I was at home the time the earthquake took place. For I know this earthquake it was a bit strong that night. The earthquake happened around 8:50pm. I was not worried at that time because I was with my family so there's nothing to be afraid or worried about, so whatever happen I was with my whole family in one place."

 Albert Lenu'u, 18, Motootua

"As for me I was scared but I remembered the disaster management advertisement when earthquakes occur so I hid under the table. Their instructions came to mind to make quick decisions for this kind of disasters. The natural disaster I thought of after the earthquake was a tsunami. All people know volcano eruptions might not happen after this disaster."

Loi Nixon, 16, Vaitele-Uta

"I was scared the time the earthquake happened, because our house might collapse and kill everyone. I was watching the television that time so when it happened I ran outside of my house and try to look for somewhere to hide."
