Kiwi FC striker Tavita Mose To'o has urged soccer enthusiasts not to give up on their dream of playing and to just head to the field and get on with it.

The 18-year-old player, who is from Sinamoga and is the son of Savaii and Mose To'o, said the basics of learning how to play soccer are easy to grasp.

"As a player, to all my sisters and brothers who are keen to play soccer, don't give up easily, put on your gears, head down to the field and play,” he told the Samoa Observer in an interview.

“It does not hurt to try and you will learn in time. And always keep praying and God will help you with everything.”

To'o started learning how to play when he was only eight-years-old and was a representative player by the time he reached his mid-teens.

"I started playing soccer when I was only 8 years old, I then continued to come to the soccer field and became attached to the game. 

“Until I reached 16 years old, when I was selected to be a part of the national football team to represent Samoa.”

To'o has played soccer for a decade as well as watched different teams and individual players.

He said the exposure and the interaction with different players enabled him to gain experience as well as improve his skills and knowledge of the code.

"From my 10 year experience in the soccer field, I was able to watch older and experienced players play and the field and I was able to learn a few skills from them.

"Playing on the field is never easy for me, the sport itself is hard and tough. But having a positive mindset and discipline in carrying out your talents, that's the key to becoming the best player in your own field of expertise.”

To'o first played for the Tama o le Mau FC in Vaimoso and then moved to the Kiwi FC.

"I am the striker or the playmaker for our team. I was awarded the golden boot or the person with the most goals for the U-19 Boys,” he added.  

I played for the Tama o le Mau, Vaimoso in the U8 and then moved to Kiwi FC. It's been three years now since I joined the Kiwi FC.”

Vowing to continue playing in the sport he loves, To'o has set his eyes on returning to the Samoan national side.
