It had to be an experience of a lifetime for students and teachers from the Peace Chapel Primary School, when they descended on Gym 1 at the Faleata Sports Complex to support New Caledonia last Thursday.

Matai Tauilau Sanele, a 48-year-old teacher at the primary school, they were not like the government schools who had to support one country.

But at the Peace Chapel Primary School, the class is divided between the different Pacific Games participating countries and they then support those nations and territories. 

"Not like the government schools, having one school supporting one country, but for us here at Peace Chapel each class have a country to support and New Caledonia is supported by the Year 3,  Wallis and Futuna Year 4 and Tonga Year 5," she said. 

Mrs. Sanele said this arrangement came about after they talked about it in classes and they decided that the students should witness what they had been teaching in class.

And also the fact that the Pacific Games was on and they wanted the students to experience the Games theme of "one-in-spirit".

"The reason why we bring the students here to the games because the games is on and gain the spirit of the events,  and to watch the games also witness the Pacific games. 

"Its better to bring the students to watch what is happening and its not only one class, but every class in this whole week," she added. 

Year 3 student Paul Phillips said he is felt good supporting the New Caledonia team, and he wanted the team to do well in the Pacific Games.

"I feel really good to support the New Caledonia team, and this team has done so good in win medals," he said.
