BAPS Vaimoso has claimed the Taula Cup in the final week of the Taula Apia Rugby Union competition on Saturday. They defeated Marist Rugby Club in a nail-biting 22-20 at the HPU Field in Tuanaimato.

Vaimoso ends the season undefeated.

Vaimoso vice captain Solialii Tofaeono Williams said they owe it all to God.

"God has answered our prayers, we are very happy and grateful for the outcome. We put it to God as we prepared for this match. There were a lot of challenges that we went through as a team, but we are very happy. We do all this in honour of our God. Also, credit to the brothers from Marist for a great game," he said.

The Marist Rugby Club captain, Tagiilima Tuioti, was a bit disappointed with the outcome; however, he is still proud of the achievement his boys made in this tournament.

"It is our first year to be part of the Apia Rugby Union tournament, but we made it to the finals, which is a win for our team. Even though the ball did not flip to our side but I'm still proud. This is not the end for us, we will continue to work and be better. There is still room for improvement and we will be taking all the lessons from every game to get better for the next one. We will now be looking at the upcoming NPC and the sevens tournament," he said.
