Marist faces Vaimoso for Taula Cup
Marist Rugby Club secured their spot in the final to face BAPS Vaimoso for the Taula Cup on 26 April.
Marist secured their spot after defeating BBE Vaiala in their semi-final on Saturday at the HPU field, Tuanaimato with a 33 - 22 win. While Vaimoso secured theirs after upsetting Apia Maroons again 34 - 25.
Marist Rugby Club captain Tagiilima Tuioti said he was proud of his team's performance.
"It is an honour not only for me as the captain but for my team as well as our club. We are new to this union this year. But we were able to move up to another level which is to be in the final. We are excited about it, I know our team are all quite young but we rely on God's guidance and provision," he said.
"The game today against Vaiala, we knew it was going to be very challenging as there are quite a lot of former Manu Samoa players and players who've been playing rugby for quite some time compared to us. But I believe this was a challenge for our team, it was also a way for us to see where were at, so we know which areas we need to improve on for the next game."
Tagiilima also mentioned that their next game is one of the most challenging matches of the tournament. They played Vaimoso before during the round robin and they lost.
"There is a lot of work needed for the next game. We know Vaimoso is a good team so they will be putting up a tough match. So, there is a need to lift our preparations for the upcoming match."
