Tifa Moana is celebrating its clean sweep at the Pacific Australia Sports netball series after it upset Scotland with a 54-52 win. Samoa ended the tournament with 10 points, followed by Scotland with eight winning the series for the first time in five years.

Coach Natalie Mathews said she was extremely proud of her girls and their efforts. She commended the work of those behind the scenes throughout their journey in Brisbane, Australia.

"It’s been a dream week so far, and I’m still processing what’s going on, but I am incredibly proud of the girls’ performance on and off the court. The team and I are overwhelmed by the support we received," she said.

"Working with Justine has been amazing. I came in with a dream, and she has supported me every step of the way. We wouldn’t have achieved what we have this week without her trust in me and the work she and her team in Samoa have put in behind the scenes.

"Thankfully, we have depth in our squad, which has allowed us to balance minutes on the court across all 14 players and try a range of combinations."

Natalie stressed that the team's spirit was high.

Their first opponent was the Fiji Pearls where they upset them with a 54 - 45 win. Followed by a tough game against Tonga, but they pulled through with a 55 - 52 win. Tifa Moana had an easy win against PNG, 70 - 52. The Black Swans put up a fantastic performance but wasn't enough to beat Samoa, they had a 54 - 42 win. Their last opponent was Scotland which was the toughest team in the competition.

Mathews emphasised the need for funding and more matches for her team to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

"Our focus following this campaign will be seeking funding. Tifa Moana currently has minimal funding, and we are seeking sponsorship opportunities to take our team on tour and increase our world ranking," she said.

"To receive an invitation to the Commonwealth Games, we need to be sitting in the top 12 by October 2025. To do that, we need to play more matches.

"We will monitor players following this series to increase their capabilities and ensure they are ready to go when we call upon them. We hope to have our supporters here and back home supporting us tonight and tomorrow!"
