Australia Development 7s proved they were too good for local teams after they beat No Idea, 31 - 5 at Apia Park to claim the women's title at the Vodafone Teuila 7s.

Captain for Australia Development 7s, Ava Wereta said No Idea brought the heat in the final match. She said they were not familiar with the physicality that No Idea came with on Saturday. She said teamwork was the key to their success.

The heat was an obstacle for them but they were able to work their way around the condition.

"I think No Idea came out and gave it to us like it was a battle out there. Both teams worked super hard. Really good battle out there, really fair. I am so proud of both teams," she said.

"It was honestly really good to test out that new physical battle. It has conditioned us for our future games. It makes us better, so the physical battle was definitely a hurdle that we had to get over.

"But I think we have a lot of trust in our team and between the girls. we just had to trust our abilities and skills and try and make those tackles, and work on our threes.

"I'm still adjusting to the heat. It's so hot."

Ava said it was a great tournament.
