The ANZ Bank's Regional Executive for the Pacific, Sarah Stubbings, has reaffirmed the bank's commitment to Samoa and the Pacific.

Ms. Stubbings is in Samoa for her first visit to Apia.

Following meetings with the Central Bank of Samoa Governor, Australian High Commissioner, customers, staff and community partners, Ms Stubbings says she is optimistic about Samoa's future.

“There was a sense of cautious optimism as the country reopens its borders and we look forward to being a part of the recovery,” Ms Stubbings said.

“ANZ has been in Samoa for more than 30 years and it is one of our core Pacific markets.

“It was touching to see the community impact that ANZ has had in Samoa and to see us supporting and growing with our customers and our people.

“Apia was buzzing and the view from Mount Vaea was breathtaking, so I can’t wait to return and see more of this incredible country,” Ms Stubbings said.

The Samoa Cancer Society also benefitted from a $10,000 donation from the ANZ Bank.

The ANZ Bank recently appointed Ms Stubbings as the Regional Executive, Pacific, with responsibility for ANZ’s businesses across 10 Pacific markets.

She brings a breadth of experience from senior roles within ANZ, including Chief of Staff to former ANZ Australia CEO; Head of Home Loan Product; and most recently Portfolio Lead Responsible Banking, where she has overseen large scale customer remediation programs and was actively involved in ANZ’s response to the Australian Royal Commission into Banking.

Ms Stubbings is based largely in Suva, while staying connected to her family in Melbourne.
