Digicel Samoa celebrates success, unveils mega prize

Digicel Samoa has launched its “freedom campaign” to celebrate its success over the last 16 years in the country while also unveiling its latest promotion mega prize giveaway. 

Employees of the telecommunications company converged on Lava Hotel on Tuesday night to celebrate the investment by Digicel in Samoa over the last 16 years.


Digicel Samoa C.E.O. Seiuli Deepak Khanna delivered the keynote address on the night and made reference to the investment by the company to expand their network capacity by 170 per cent since March 2020.

He said the expansion in the company’s network capacity is a good indicator of Digicel Samoa’s success.

The company’s work in supporting various community initiatives over the years was also mentioned which directly and indirectly contributed to the development of the country including support for institutions.


On the cusp of a new chapter as a telecommunications firm, the sale of the Pacific arm of the Digicel Group to Australia's Telstra, which includes Digicel Samoa and six other subsidiaries in the Pacific Islands, was also mentioned during the celebrations on Tuesday night.

But the highlight of the night was the unveiling of the company’s biggest promotion giveaway in this calendar year called “Freedom to Excel”, where Digicel subscribers have a chance to win a brand new 2023 Ford Ranger XLT by topping up $10 tala in order to have an entry go into the draw. 


The company also unveiled their new sports apparel for soccer, netball, tennis, basketball and rugby and invited expressions of interest from any sporting team keen on signing them on as sponsors.

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesome, in a speech to mark the occasion congratulated Digicel Samoa for their contribution to Samoa’s development over the last 16 years and their investment in expanding their network.

C.E.O. Seiuli together with Digicel Samoa Chairman Pepe Christian Fruean and Minister Toelupe later unveiled the brand new 2023 Ford Ranger XLT, which would be drawn as the grand prize at the end of the “Freedom to Excel” promotion.
