S.N.P.F. Board approves $42M interim interest payment
The Samoa National Provident Fund (S.N.P.F.) Board has approved a $42.35 million interim interest payment with contributors to receive 3 per cent this week.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Monday morning by the Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molio'o and the S.N.P.F. Chief Executive Officer, Pauli Prince Suhren.
The Minister said the S.N.P.F. celebrated its 50th jubilee on 23 March this year and as the country is currently under COVID-19 restrictions there will not be any celebrations.
However, she said to mark the occasion the S.N.P.F. has paid 5 per cent in cash to its contributors in 2022 and 3 per cent will be released this week, starting 12 midnight Monday with the balance to be paid in December.
According to Mulipola, a special one-off gift for our senior citizen pensioners registered with the Senior Citizens Benefit Fund of $50 per pensioner to the total value of $580,000 tala.
She said this will be combined with the usual monthly pension amount and each pensioner will receive $250 tala to be paid out on Tuesday 12th April 2022 directly to the four commercial banks, Western Union and the Samoa Post Office.
A Total of 13 organisations will also be given $10,000 each such as Samoa Victim Support Group and the Samoa Cancer Society with a date to be confirmed later.
For cash disbursements to S.N.P.F. members, Pauli said no one can get their contributions in person by coming to their offices, and contributors are encouraged to register online in order to get their cash.
This is a developing story.
