Patience is key to mutual understanding, a couple who tied the knot before God and their families on Saturday said.
A church service at the Congregational Christian Church Samoa at Tanugamanono was held to bless the life of Tumau and Faafouina Ah Siu in holy matrimony.
Reverend Poasa Toiaivao led the service and blessed their union before God with families and friends as witnesses.
The groom, Mr. Ah Siu, is the son of Sulu and Taavao Tuise Sefo Ah Siu from the village of Faala, Palauli Savaii.
The bride, Mrs. Ah Siu, is the daughter of Makerita and Atoa Louis Tafunai from Tanugamanono.
The couple said their wedding day was the culmination of a three-year journey of love, understanding and patience.
Mrs. Ah Siu said she was overwhelmed with feelings of joy and love on her wedding day.
She said the couple met through work before striking up a relationship.
Mr. Ah Siu said his new wife’s sense of compassion was his favourite thing about her.
“My wife is unique and one of the things I love about her is that she is a very understanding person,” he said.
“But overall it is about love, and I do love her.
“This is a very special day for the both of us.
“We have looked forward to this very day for a long time and personally I feel amazing and excited mostly.”
He said he plans to support his wife to pursue her dreams, such as setting up a business.
“She loves baking so we planned on having a little business,” he said.
Mrs. Ah Siu said that patience was one of her husband’s main virtues.
“He is patient but not forgetting his heart or love for me, that’s why he’s the one,” she said.
The couple was married five months after she accepted his initial marriage proposal on 18 July.
The couple acknowledged their parents and family members for their support, including their groomsmen and bridesmaids and the bride’s brother who, living in New Zealand, was unable to attend.
The church service was followed by a wedding reception held at the Tanoa Hotel.
