The Seventh Day Adventist Church from the village of Tuana’i graced the streets of Apia Saturday morning with song and dance and spreading joy as Samoa got ready for the White Sunday weekend.

The Sunday school from S.D.A. Tuana’i reenacted biblical stories and also showcased some of their dance moves with performances of evangelical choreography at the S.N.P.F. Plaza in Apia.

Director of the S.D.A. Church in Samoa, Pelenatete Siaki told the Samoa Observer that it has been four years since they started holding concerts for the public on Saturdays before White Sunday.

“We select different ministries from villages here in Upolu and Savai’i to come to Apia and celebrate this special day appointed for us to give thanks to God for blessing us with our little ones, so this year it’s the S.D.A. Church from Tuanai’s turn," she said.

“We’re the only country in the world that celebrates White Sunday, it is a time when we give thanks for the gift and joy that our children bring to our lives."

Penina Saunoa, the first lady of S.D.A.C Tuana’I said that her Sunday school class has been preparing for the big day of their street performance.

She said that they have been looking forward to spreading Jesus’ message that children are part of God’s creative plan and his gifts to families.

“This is a time to praise and give thanks to our Father in heaven that our children are still safe while other children experiencing the deadly effects of Covid19 in foreign countries,” said Ms Saunoa.

As for 10-year-old Farani Mateo, he said after their performance that this is the first time he’s been involved in a performance for the public.

“I had fun while we were singing and reenacted the story about father Abraham. The crowd that gathered to watch enjoyed and applauded us after our items, which made me really proud,” he said.

The performance concluded with snacks and treats being handed out to members of the public who were at the SNPF Plaza with their children.
