S.S.A.B. helps victims of abuse

Local company, Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B.) has offered more assistance to victims of violence and domestic and family abuse.
Representatives from S.S.A.B. presented in-kind and monetary donations to Samoa Victim Support Group (S.V.S.G.).
The assistance is part of the company’s monthly contribution towards ending violence in Samoa.
The Campus of Hope - under the care of S.V.S.G. - is home to more than 50 children that are victims of violence and sexual abuse.
"Taking ownership of ending violence against women and girls in Samoa as a collective is an indication of a responsible community," the group said.
“The coming on board of the Samoa Stationery & Books to coordinate monthly donations to the S.V.S.G. and the Campus of Hope over the years is a company that walks the talk to support the ending violence against women, girls and children.|
Furthermore, the donation included boxes of clothes and linen collected from the company’s donation boxes placed in front of the S.S.A.B. Megastore. The project calls on the public to donate clothes, whether new or second-hand, for children who are campus residents.
The charity project was launched last year after discussions between the two parties on areas that the Tuanaimato-based humanitarian organisation needed assistance with.
In addition, there was also a cheque of $1,000 which according to the S.S.A.B. representative, composed of $500 from the sales of orange sei in support of S.V.S.G., plus a $500 top up by the company itself.
S.V.S.G. has stated that as a support service organisation and an advocate for ending violence in Samoa, these community efforts should be acknowledged.
“They should not be discounted as minimal compared to the continued rise in the incidences of violence we see around us today.
“It is because every life impacted by the goodness of humanity is valuable and worth celebrating.”
It is in this connection that the Chair of the S.V.S.G. Board, Georgina Lui has congratulated Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai, management and staff of the S.S.A.B. for performing this act of kindness above and beyond every month they walk through our doors.
“It is through your faith Tofilau Fiti that you have positively influenced the community to join the fight to end violence against women and children in Samoa,” she said.
