Justin Runy Auava is just 20-years-old but the singer has evidently been blessed witj a talent for singing and creating music that belies his youth.

He attributes his ability on the microphone and in the studio partly attributes to God and partly to following in his uncle's footsteps.

His musical journey started at just 10 years of age when he began singing at his local church which led to performances at a talent show at Pesea Middle School.

The young man told the Samoa Observer that regularly listening to songs was what really piqued his interest in performance.

“The idea of listening to music everyday and literally every time got me to like music and wanting to start writing my own songs,” he said.

The young crooner was inspired by his friends, family members and even some of Samoa's biggest names in show business.

He lists his biggest inspiration as his music teacher at the L.D.S. Church College Pesega, Uili Lafaele - also known as Pesega Boy - who is now a studio owner.

While attending the college, he focused more on music than traditional teaching methods because his passion lay in singing and creating original tracks.

Ultimately, though, Justin followed in his uncle’s footsteps; the famous Samoan singer, Tagaloa Runi Masame, who led him to pursue his dream.

At a young age listening to his uncle’s song was the source of comfort leading him to believe that if his close relative could achieve success than he could, too.

The singer is looking into cooperating with singers who are experienced and create their own music so that they can sharpen each other's skills.

He has also performed at the Kokogo Night Club several times and he had also traveled to Pago Pago and performed there on a trip with other Samoan singers.

The budding musician also told the Samoa Observer that his dream dates back to his youth.

“I love the idea of singing and the spirit of music had really grown in me. My uncle, Tagaloa Runi, who is a famous singer had also inspired me right from my young age.

"I always had this dream."

The singer’s goal is to keep creating more music in the hope that someday he will become famous and be invited to perform at special occasions.

He said young people shouild make sure that their talent does not go to waste.

“When I was in high school, I paid more attention to music class than any other because I know that is where my heart belongs," he said.

"Not everyone is born to work behind computers, there are mechanics, plumbers and other jobs

"You follow what your heart beats for and wants than forcing yourself to be someone you’re not meant to become."
