Methodist Church youth mark Easter
A youth member of the Methodist Church at Vaitele-fou has highlighted the importance of youth participation in commemorating Easter as part of their celebrations.
Heseti Ulia of Vaitele-fou, who is a member of the Youth Church of the Methodist Church at Vaitele-fou ‘’Vaipoto-ō-manū o le Atua’’, told the Samoa Observer that the young generation is the future of families, villages and the country.
She said in order for the youth to be able to fulfill their dreams and aspirations they need to get to know God and follow his ways.
“Easter season is celebrated every year through activities and stories, also bible reading so that could tell us the importance of Easter,” she said.
“We know that the world is facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic but Samoa is COVID free and it’s all because of his love upon our country.”
Ms Ulia said the holy week recently offered the opportunity for everyone to think deeply about the burden that Jesus continues to carry for the world.
In an appeal to her peers, she said the youth are often referred to as the blessings of the future but all of that is nothing without God.
“They prefer us as the blessings for the future, we may have everything in life but without God we are nothing at all, and what we have is not important as the bible says seek God's kingdom first then all things shall be added onto you.
“As a youth member, we are the one delivering the messages for our families, everyone has a part to play in celebrating Easter, know the importance and keep in our minds that there is no other love than God who gave his son who has died and risen from the dead for us.”
The Methodist Church of Vaitele-fou youth held their camp on Saturday night where there activities including skits performances by youth members in commemoration of the holy week.
Last week schools and the community each played a role in marking holy week through various activities including drama which had messages for the community.
