Each of Samoa’s churches displayed their own unique styles while observing the culmination of the most sacred week in the Christian calendar on Easter Sunday.

The Congregational Christian Church of Samoa’s (C.C.C.S) Fugalei Sunday school sang joyously about Jesus’ resurrection this morning.

Nili Aloi, of Fugalei, who is also a second-year student at Malua Theological College said Easter was important to him every year.

‘’As for C.C.C.S and its foundation this is one of the important seasons in our calendar; the celebration of the Holy Week as we all celebrate and commemorate within our church, Sunday school, and youth members’’ he said

‘’The important thing is that we come to think of what our Lord Jesus Christ went through at the time when he had died on the cross and his risen from the dead, which is [something] no one of us can do.”

Nili said that this week, culminating in Easter Sunday, brought the nation together, in the spirit of forgiveness triumphing over negativity.

‘’We all make mistakes and for that Jesus had died and arisen from it because of us, it is a sign for us as well no matter how bad we are, God always forgives us and that is the main reason for the season,” he said.

This morning the C.C.C.S. Sunday school put on skits and scenes and songs commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
