Fuiava Egon Keil officially reappointed as Police Commissioner
Fuiavailili Egon Keil has been reappointed as Police Commissioner for the next three years. Fuiava’s second term as Police Commissioner was confirmed by Cabinet last week, Savali reported.
Prior to taking the helm of the Police Service in Samoa, Commissioner Keil was a member of the Board of Directors for the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority and ran his own business, Speedy Auto Care Limited Samoa since 2012.
He served in the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.) as Assistant Watch Commander (Sergeant II) from 2005 to 2012. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as a L.A.P.D. Field Patrol Supervisor (Sergeant I).
Fuiava started his career in the L.A.P.D. in 1995 after serving one year as a Prison Guard in the Department of Corrections for the State of Utah.
Fuiavailili holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration (graduated with Honors) from the California State University Dominguez Hills, Carson.
He is also qualified from specialised trainings in various areas of police work; outside agency training and certification and had worked in specialised positions in the L.A.P.D.
Fuiavailili hails from the villages of Malololelei, Manono and Palauli. He has two children and is a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Motootua Ward.
