10 schools participate in sports festival
Ten Primary Schools in Falealii participated in the Falealili Primary School Sports Festival 2020 on Wednesday.
The goal of the festival was to promote and support a healthy lifestyle for the students in primary school level in Falealili through their participation in rugby sevens and tag.
The one-day sporting program was initiated last year by Soi Lalovi, who sought assistance from Business Systems Limited [BSL] to sponsor their event by donating uniforms for the 10 schools, trophies and cash to transport all the teams.
Consequently, the BSL has now become the major sponsor of the festival for two consecutive years according to the company’s marketing officer Lalovi Peter Tau.
Mr Tau said they are privileged to be involved in the initiative of utilising sports as a vehicle to encourage healthy lifestyles for children.
"This is one area that BSL is pleased to be involved in. Kids should be looking forward to learning academically and physically through sports and this Sports Festival will enhance their capabilities in both aspects and help foster their talents at a tender age,” he said.
"This program will improve the potential of the youth in terms of academics and sports. We have our national rugby team for them, if they succeed. But it all starts from here the first phase starts from playing rugby and having these types of programs in schools.”
The tournament, where students from 10 different primary schools in Falealili came together for a fun-filled day of rugby, has traditionally always been a one-day event.
One of the supporters from Satalo Primary School commended the efforts put into organising the festival and how the programs encouraged development of the students in relation to their sporting skills.
The Falealili Primary School Sports Festival 2020 was made possible with the assistance of BSL as well as Quickrip Samoa and Samoa Rugby Union.
The schools that participated included the Sapoe Primary School; Vaovai Primary School; Siumu Primary School; Saleilua Primary School; Nene Primary School; Satalo Primary School; Sapunaoa Primary School; Salani Primary School; Salesatele Primary School; and Poutasi Manumalo.
