Electoral law changes "undemocratic, controlling"
Members of Parliament who leave their parties before an election cycle is up are now forced to vacate their seats, with a new amendment to the Electoral Act passed on Tuesday.

An election candidate, Papali'i Panoa Moala, says a new law requiring Members of Parliament who leave their political parties, to return to a by-election, is "undemocratic." The requirement was part of amendments to the Electoral Act discussed and passed by Parliament on Tuesday.
