The life of a prominent businessman and a pioneer in the radio industry, Maposua Rudolf Keil, was celebrated yesterday prior to being laid to rest at the Keil Cemetery, Lotopa.

Maposua passed away last Sunday. He was 83.

His final funeral service was held at the Lotopa Latter Day Saints Chapel.

Maposua started Radio Polynesia Limited in 1989 at Afiamalu and over the years had grown the business to now include several stations including Talofa FM, Magic FM, K Lite FM, Malo FM and Star FM.

Father of 15 children, the eldest, Tuifa’asisina Mea’ole Keil testified on behalf of the children. Among the children is the Owner of TV3 and Radio Polynesia, Maposua Corey Keil and Police Commissioner, Fuiavai’iliili Egon Keil.

The audience was told of how their father was hard working and a family man. He was a proud Samoan and hard working village chief, having held the title Maposua since 1963.

Tuifaasisina said his father dabbed his band in different businesses including apartments, flats, a nightclub, ice cream shop and the first businessman to ever bring into Samoa readymade cushion Isuzu buses.

In Maposua’s pursuit of happiness, he was always working hard and looking for new investments.

Aside from looking for business ventures, golf was one of Maposua’s hobbies.
